You ‘won’t leave hungry’ from Texas Testicle Festival next week in Fredericksburg

If bull testicles are your thing, you can grab a pair at this annual Hill Country festival and wash them down with an adult beverage.

The Texas Testicle Festival will serve up the delicacy, also known as Rocky Mountain oysters, on Jan. 14 at Bankersmith Hall near Fredericksburg. Along with the battered and fried animal testicles, the event will feature hamburgers and drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The festival will also serve sweetbreads made from an animal’s pancreas.

“Paired nicely with some adult beverages (and a little bit of friendly ribbing), these things go down like butter,” organizers wrote on the event’s Facebook page.

Eating the testicles of farm animals like calves, lambs, roosters, turkeys and other animals is a tradition on ranches throughout Central Texas and the Western United States.

There will also be a testicle-eating competition with a $40 entry fee, which comes with a chance of winning a $100 prize and all the testicles you can eat during the competition with free beer to wash it down.

Those who aren’t as into the testicle thing can choose from pork chops, barbecue ribs, pulled pork sandwiches and actual oysters. Organizers said attendees “absolutely won’t leave hungry,” regardless of tastes.

The festival is selling tickets between $10 and $65. Best of Texas, an event company that hosts festivals around the Lone Star State, is the event organizer.
